Rock Me Amadeus!

Okay, so the uber-crappy techno tracks have uploaded to my temporary host. I'll probably keep them up there semi-permanently, bandwidth permitting. They are in WMA format, so you Mac users may have to download the WMA codec to give it a listen. I tried to put them in MP3 format, but my lame Lame encoder doesn't seem to be up to the task right now.

  1. Mack Mahogany --originally conceived about a retarded kid with a boner
  2. Chain-smoking Bus Driver --an ode about Adam's bus driver on his class trip to Germany
  3. Warble Warble -- we listened to a lot of Mr. Oizo back in the day m'kay
  4. Fun with vocal samples -- spot the lame sampled vocals
  5. High School Biology Teacher -- another Adam inspired track (okay so he did the most work)
That's all for now. Maybe if I want to rape more ears, there will be further collaborations.

Hot Item for the Day:

Schecter 006 Blackjack

Wow... uh... what to say?

It didn't make me want to slit my wrists like most techno does, so that's good.

It didn't necessarily make me NOT want to either, though.

It sounded a little... clean for my taste. I prefer the techo that sounds like you're beating on a metal trashcan full of loose bolts with a cat.

Also: the way my youngest was staring at the visualizations Windows Media Player plays let me know there's a 100% chance that kid will be a habitual drug user. Which is good to know.

Haven't heard the music yet cuz have to do the laundry. But re the Schecter: (Non-guitarists talk among yourselves)They have one that looks like that, and one of the knobs is a push-pull switch that splits the bridge pickup into two single coils. Get this if you can.

The music is nothing to speak of. It was a crappy techno experiment we did with a handful of samples and a cheap turntable.

As for the Schecter, I think it's the C1 Classic that has the humbucker/single coil tone knob switch. If I remember right, that's the one Robert Smith from the Cure uses. It would probably be awhile until I could do it justice anyways. Until then, I'm having plenty of fun playing around with my strat knockoff. Thanks for the comments.

How sad is it that I've been playing the guitar for fifteen years (OK, I've owned a guitar for that long... "play" might be a little strong) and I have absolutely no idea what you guys are talking about. Maybe there are some disadvantages to being self-taught.

you know.. i really dig this stuff.. it's awesome quirky weirdness..

its funny too.. because this is seriously better than like 95% of all the electronic music on garageband.com...

i'm not sure if that statement proves how terrible the music on garageband is or how incredible yours is.. i'll let you decide..

just, "let me smoke in peace"

OK, I have listened to the first two tracks and I'm ready to render my professional opinion: What it needs is a singer in a very short silver lame dress, preferrably not you. Other than that, it's perfect.

A lot of X would've helped...and a glow stick and/or pacifier. Well Brent, hope you learn how to kick out the jams on your guitar soon. But speaking of techno music, do you ever watch Strong Bad Email cartoons? If you haven't already, check out this cartoon about techno music--I think it's fucking brilliant and pretty much tells you all you need to know about techno. :)
